Sampling a Pixel Color from Screen

Colors sampled from a screen are RGB device-dependent. The sample's appearance may vary widely when viewed on another monitor or output device. In most cases, making the color sample "device-independent" largely solves this problem. To do this, you must configure Tangerine to assign a color profile to the sample color before it is placed into a Tangerine palette. For more information see General Settings – An Overview.

To create a new color by sampling a pixel color from your screen:

  1. Click the 'Sample Color from Screen' toolbar icon – Sample Color from Screen Icon – in the Palette window. A magnifying glass will appear where the cursor is positioned.
  2. Position the magnifying glass over the pixel color you wish to sample. Press the mouse button to take the sample.
