Creating a Custom Profile for Dreamweaver


It is recommended that you read Using Tangerine with your Favorite Applications before continuing as it provides an overview of Tangerine concepts and terminology.

When Dreamweaver is active, the Custom Profile created in this example will allow you to:

  • Click a swatch to insert hexadecimal color syntax – for example '#003366' – into the Code view as well as into color fields in the Page Properties window and Properties panel. (see diagram)
  • Hold down the 'shift' key and click a swatch to insert hexadecimal color syntax without the '#' – for example '003366' – into the Code view.
  • Drag and drop a swatch to place hexadecimal color syntax into the Code view.
  • Hold down the 'shift' key and drag and drop a swatch to place hexadecimal color syntax without the '#' into the Code view.
  • Copy hexadecimal color syntax into the pasteboard and use the Input button to add the color to the palette from the pasteboard.
Dreamweaver Color Fields
Dreamweaver's color fields (as seen here in the Properties panel) allow you to
insert hexadecimal color syntax.

Note: When inserting syntax you must first position the cursor in the Code view (where you want the syntax to be inserted) before clicking a swatch. Similarly, position the cursor in the color field before clicking a swatch.

To create a Custom Profile for Dreamweaver:

  1. Open the Actions window by selecting the 'Actions' menu item in the Tangerine menu. Alternatively, click the 'Open Actions' icon – Show Actions Window Icon – in the Palette window toolbar.
  2. Create a new Custom Profile by clicking the 'Add' button located beneath the Libraries and Profiles List.
  3. Select the profile you have just created in the Libraries and Profiles List. It may already be selected.
  4. Type 'Dreamweaver' into the 'Profile Title:' text field.
  5. Click the 'Choose' button beneath the 'Profile Title:' text field. In the window that opens, find and select the Dreamweaver application.
  6. Make the following Event Action Pairings in the Event Action Pairings Table:
    • Set 'Click' to 'General – Insert Hex Color'
    • Set 'Shift + Click' to 'General – Insert Hex Color without '#''
    • Set 'Drag' to 'General – Insert Hex Color'
    • Set 'Shift + Drag' to 'General – Insert Hex Color without '#''
    • Set 'Input' to 'General – Hex Color from Pasteboard'

Tangerine will use this custom profile next time Dreamweaver becomes the active application.
 

Once you have completed the above steps, the Action window should look similar to the diagram below.
